The PK61 Coffee Table is an original 1955 design by Danish architect Poul Kjærholm. This table is characteristic of Kjærholm’s design style: square, aesthetic, and minimal. The design of this table clearly demonstrates Kjærholm’s development from industrial designer to furniture architect. Kjærholm was a trained carpenter, and also studied at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He had a particular interest in steel, a material he considered natural. This reproduction of the PK61 Coffee Table is constructed using high quality stainless steel, and a thick glass top. The stainless steel legs are joined together with machine screws, which help lend to the unique design of the table. The removable tabletop illustrates Kjærholm’s principle of using gravity to keep the elements in place. The elegant design of the PK61 Coffee Table is suitable for any modern home or work environment.
