The Eames Lounge Chair Wood is a chair designed by husband and wife Charles and Ray Eames. The original chair was designed in 1946, using innovative technology for moulding plywood that was developed by the Eames’ before and during WWII. Charles Eames began this experimentation by making moulded plywood splints for the U.S. Air Force. The initial idea behind this design was to find a solution, which would provide comfortable and affordable furniture that could be easily mass-produced. The Eames Plywood Chair has often been referred to as “the most famous chair of the century”. The Eames Plywood Chair consists of 2 separate plywood pieces, the seat and the backrest, which are created using a quality 5-ply hardwood, which adds durability to the chair. The moulded 8-ply legs and back brace add superior strength and are secured to the seat with rubber shock mounts. The shock mounts provide flexibility when seated and prevent against any abrupt jarring movement. This chair continues to be an icon of Modern Design, and is valued for its comfort as well as its status symbol. This chair is so simple in its design that it would fit effortlessly into any modern environment.
